Folkmoot Friendship Center provides retail and gallery space to craft artists and independent businesses. Some of these folks are professional artists and others are hoping to grow their business. All of these groups set their own operational hours. It’s a good idea to contact them individually before you visit.

Kathy DeOrnellas Weaving

Kathy DeOrnellas and her husband moved to Waynesville in the spring of 2021 after retiring and selling their sheep/alpaca farm in Texas. She previously worked as a private practice psychologist and as a professor in the Psychology department at Texas Woman’s University; however, her first love was art - weaving and knitting primarily - and she has returned to the fiber arts since opening a studio in Waynesville.
Ken Czarnomski

Ken Czarnomski has spent his life exploring the world of architecture and art. He discovered illustrated maps in Ireland which sent him on his current journey. As a certified Blue Ridge Naturalist, he maps for fun and commissions. Unlike backpacking maps, the purpose of Ken’s illustrations is to engage people and create an enticement which draws the map holder into the excitement of natural exploration and appreciation.
The Pollinators Foundation

Marga Fripp is a lifelong activist, artist, and trauma-informed expressive art therapist. During her 30 years of experience as a nonprofit leader and healing arts professional, she has empowered thousands of women and trauma survivors from domestic violence to human trafficking to immigrants and refugees.
Together with her daughter, Geanina Fripp Emerson, a passionate mental health advocate, she started the Pollinators Foundation in 2022 with a mission to promote mental wellness, compassionate connection, and social healing through the arts, movement, and mind-body practices. This is the third non-profit venture she has created to build community, resilience and amplify the social good.
Holly Smith Designs

Holly Smith recently moved to Waynesville and began renting her studio at Folkmoot. She enjoys going out hiking to look for stones and elements to add to her acrylic and resin art. Holly is fond of mixing nature with her artwork. She is a self-taught artist and finds great joy in painting in her spare time at the studio.

Quilt Trails of Western North Carolina

In July of 2019 the Quilt Trails of Western NC became a program of the Haywood County Arts Council and the tradition of handcrafting exterior quilt blocks is now lead by a dedicated group of volunteers in Waynesville, NC, who meet weekly to hand paint these works of art.
HCAC plans to work with many WNC counties participating in the Quilt Trails Program to improve and update brochures and books, mapping, overall program reach, and to create limited edition pieces for quilt block trail lovers.
Stone Cottage Music School

Stone Cottage Music School is the educational extension of Stone Cottage Band Instrument Shoppe in Waynesville. Lessons for all instruments at beginning, intermediate and expert level are available. We provide an atmosphere for the novice and the advancing musician to grow in music on a personal level as well as the rewarding experience of playing music in a group.
At Stone Cottage Music School we match students of all ages with teachers that can help them to explore and learn a new instrument, or improve one they already play. Whether it's singing or playing a saxophone, ukulele, drum, or other musical instruments, all are invited to join our fun and friendly community where we hold group classes, private lessons and events centered around music of all types.
