The Haywood Community Band was established in 2002 and held its meetings in the Folkmoot Friendship Center. The band performs in concert on a regular basis every third Sunday from May through October at the Maggie Pavilion in Maggie Valley, N.C. for the Maggie Valley Civic Association along with many other community events. For the Folkmoot Family FaLaLa six saxophonists or a wassail of saxophones will be performing. Their songs will include classics like, “Jingle Bells,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” and “O’ Come All Ye Faithful,” along with other heart warming holiday songs.
Karin Lyle is a well known Waynesville music instructor who plays the piano, banjo, mandolin, guitar, fiddle and the harp. From the elegance of classical to the charm of Celtic to contemporary pieces, Karin inspires with her playing.
Blackberry Jam is a group of talented musicians who brings their love of old time mountain music and bluegrass to Haywood County just because “it’s fun.” Blackberry Jam will be playing lively Holiday selections such as Deck The Halls and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.
These won’t be the only people singing Friday night…the audience is too!! Each group will be helping the audience to sing with them for a few of the Holiday songs we have all been raised with. Folkmoot is so excited for this event and can’t want to begin the holiday season with our community!!
