North Carolina native Bob Plott (right) is a third great grandson of (Johannes) George Plott, the originator of the Plott breed and great-great nephew of Henry Plott who first brought the Plott dogs to Haywood County in about 1805. Plott still raises the family Plott dogs today and has written five award winning books about the Plott hound – the official state dog of N.C. – and southern mountain culture, as well as hundreds of magazine articles.
