The Folkmoot Festival 2015 Schedule of Events has been announced and tickets are on sale online, by phone (1.877.FOLK.USA) and at the Folkmoot box office!
From the pageantry, color and community celebration of the opening weekend to the drama and unparalleled beauty of the candlelight closing, Folkmoot Festival 2015 promises to hold all the excitement and whimsy of past festivals combined with a new and vibrant spirit of a resurgent Folkmoot for the decades to come.
Included in Folkmoot Festival 2015 will be dance troupes from as near as our treasured Eastern Band Cherokee neighbors just across the Plott Balsams to lands as far away as Indonesia and Bangladesh. Other troupes will come from Chile, Ecuador, Estonia, Philippines, French Canada and Puerto Rico.
Folkmoot USA, North Carolina’s official international folk festival, is where the world meets Main Street – out of many cultures, one community – and we celebrate the family of humankind through music and dance, cultural exchange and celebrate along with cultures from around the world our unique and complex culture arising out of the mountains of Western North Carolina.
Be sure to mark your calendars for July 16 through July 26 and be present for as many performances as you can of this very special festival!
To remind you just how awe-inspiring and beautiful Folkmoot can be we offering this short video recap of the 2014 Folkmoot Festival by long-time Folkmoot friend, supporter and videographer extraordinaire Art Hoffman. (We realize the space here on our website is a bit limited so we encourage to watch Hoffman’s video at his special Folkmoot YouTube Channel by clicking on the video and selecting the YouTube button in the lower right corner.)
