Join Folkmoot in Hickory at the Salt Block Auditorium on Sunday, July 21st!
Folkmoot dancers and musicians will travel to Hickory for an afternoon performance on Sunday, July 21, 2019 from2pm – 4pm. Tickets are only $10 for adults. Youth between 13-18 years of age, $5 and 12 years of age and under are free.
Folkmoot is a two-week celebration of world’s cultural heritage through folk music and dance. Held each summer across the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, Folkmoot features special events, parades andworkshops with over 200 dancers and musicians from 7 to 9 countries along with local Cherokee and Appalachian performers. Performers demonstrate cultural heritage through colorful, authentic and original reproduction costumes, lively dance and traditional music.
Folkmoot, a word meaning “meeting of the people,” provides communities all over Western North Carolina the opportunity to build a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect and shared purpose by experiencing other cultures. Dancers from 9 nations around the globe will perform at the 36th edition of Folkmoot Festival when it convenes July 18-28 in our beloved Smoky Mountains. Click for information on visiting countries.
