On the first Friday of the Festival, more than 200 dancers and musicians from around the globe will share their folk dance traditions at Folkmoot’s Grand Opening performance at Lake Junaluska’s Stuart Auditorium. The Opening performance features a welcoming regional choir, a presentation of flags, eight enthusiastic dance presentations and is always full of international goodwill. All international groups perform at the Opening alongside dancers and musicians representing Cherokee and Appalachian cultures.
