Join us this Saturday at Folkmoot’s Sam Love Queen Auditorium for the Darren Nicholson Band!
If you like fun, high-energy music with a groove, soaring trio singing, world-class pickin’, and great songs…this is the band for you!!
Darren Nicholson Band is a group of Appalachian musicians who have common respect for and love of American acoustic music. There are Grammy-nominees and award-winning musicians in this band, and the members each have long track records as credible, national performers; including performances at Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and have toured internationally with many of music’s legends.
They are known for creatively blending Bluegrass, Folk, Gospel, Rockabilly and Swing, into a new American acoustic music experience. Darren Nicholson is a highly sought after mandolin player, singer, and session musician. Darren is also a full time, founding member of Balsam Range. Darren was recently given the “key to the city” in Canton, NC, where he was honored for his musical and civic contributions to the community. Recently off five national #1 songs and more than a dozen top-ten songs, 7 IBMA nominations, 2 IBMA wins, including Album of the Year, Darren is excited to announce a handful of special dates with some bluegrass all-stars. This band will include 3-time Grammy nominee Steve Sutton on banjo, Kevin Sluder on acoustic bass and vocals, Jeff Smith on percussion, and Griff Martin on guitar and vocals.
