September Volunteer Newsletter

Dear Volunteers,

WOW! Another festival has come and gone. There is so much to celebrate this year, we had a fantastic festival season, wonderful groups and we made some serious improvements in our volunteer program. The involvement from the community during this festival was inspirational and extremely helpful! We welcomed new and seasoned volunteers which made our team effective and unstoppable. Most of these advances were directly related to the skills, interests, and expertise of our volunteers. THANK YOU!

There are lots of happenings this month as we kick-off our year-round programs. There are plenty of ways to get involved and you wouldn’t want to miss our Volunteer Appreciation Dinner! The following details describe our September calendar.

Volunteer Spotlight

Every month we highlight a volunteer for their contributions to our year-round and festival programs. Our organization is endlessly grateful for all our volunteers. This is a small way of honoring each volunteer for their many offerings of their time, donations, and support. For the month of September, Virginia Wall was selected as our volunteer spotlight! Congratulations, Virginia! You can read her blog by clicking HERE.

Lawn Care Days

We typically hold several Saturday lawn care days before the festival with groups that work on the building and tend to our lawn care needs. We have seen a need for some fall pruning and “winterizing” our buildings lately. The dates for these events are Saturday, September 23rd, and Saturday, October 28th. We typically get started around 9:00 am and finish around 12:00 pm with lunch provided for the workers. If you are interested in getting involved in this work, please email me your name to be added to the notification list for lawn care days.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

This year’s Volunteer Appreciation Dinner will be held on Thursday, September 21st at 6:00 pm here at the Folkmoot Friendship Center in the Cafeteria. We ask everyone who plans to attend to RSVP with the link below. This will be a great event for mingling with other volunteers and our way to express our many thanks to each and every one of you. Please use the Cafeteria front entrance for check-in to receive your name tag. https://www.showclix.com/event/folkmoot-event—volunteer-dinner

Scottish Friendship Dinner

Our next ticketed event is the Scottish Friendship Dinner on Friday, September 29th at 6:00 pm here at the Folkmoot Friendship Center. There will be a whiskey tasting, souvenir sales, Scottish singers & dancers. We will need help with set-up, greeting, souvenirs, cafeteria, and break-down. We will go over more details at our volunteer meeting. However, if you interested in signing up to volunteer for this event, please email your name and I will put you on the notification list for this event. Get your tickets here.

As always you may contact me by email, catherine@folkmoot.org or phone, 828.452.2997 ext. 105. I look forward to kicking starting our volunteer program for the fall and hope to see you all very soon!
