January Volunteer Newsletter

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday as well as a fun and safe New Year’s Eve! Where has the time gone?! I feel like we just ended the festival and now we start our countdown until 2018! Who is getting excited?

I am hard at work trying to piece together this year’s volunteer schedule and operational plan for the festival. I look forward to sharing with you all so that you will claim your roles in the success of 2018!

This month I thought we should have some fun together. It’s winter, and with the cold temperatures we’re having, we need to spread the warmth of love and friendship with a special outing. For this month, instead of our Volunteer Meeting, we will spend a night out at the new Bowling Alley in Cherokee. Read below for more details.

We have great events coming up in February. Stay tuned to our website and calendar of events because we will need your help!

Every month we highlight volunteers for their contributions to our year-round and festival programs. This is a small way of honoring all volunteers for their time, in-kind donations, and financial support. For the month of January, Bill and Louise Voreis were selected for our volunteer spotlight! Congratulations you two! You can read their blog by going to the News section of our website!

In place of our January volunteer meeting, we will have a night of fun at the new Bowling Alley in Cherokee, on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, January 15th. We plan to meet here at the Folkmoot Friendship Center at 5:00pm and leave by5:15pm to drive over to Cherokee.  If you’d like to drive on your own, please plan to meet us at 6:00pm at the main entrance of the bowling alley.  Come all – it’s sure to be an exciting night out together!

In order to RSVP for this outing, please email me directly or if you are connected with us on Facebook, RSVP on the event page! Can’t wait to see everyone!

Want to start the year off right?! Why not donate to Folkmoot? It’s easy and you can do it without spending an extra penny out of your own pocket.

Did you know you could donate to Folkmoot with your everyday purchases on Amazon? We have a SMILE account through Amazon’s giving program. When making purchases on Amazon go to smile.amazon.com and create a login. From there, you can select from many charities to have a portion of your purchase given back to that organization. You may choose Folkmoot by selecting the “North Carolina International Folk Festival Inc”. And start shopping, it’s that easy!

You may also visit our “Wish List” on Wal*Mart’s website and donate items to our organization directly by clicking here Wal*Mart Wish List. Any contribution is welcomed and will be used for our events and festival needs.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our Bowling Night in Cherokee! Here’s the link to the website: http://ultrastarnc.com/bowling/ for more info. The address is 777 Casino Dr, Cherokee, NC 28719. Please bring $10 for unlimited bowling.
