Calling writers to Folkmoot! Become part of our crew!
Scribes, authors, correspondents, journalistas, stringers, ghostwriters, scripters and all you esteemed people of letters, we are looking for a few good wordsmiths (with imagination and literary punch) to help us publish timely and compelling pieces to our website publishing effort.
Our online audience is local and global and reaches into the tens of thousands! Folkmoot is focused on building our digital publishing and social media audience and we are seeking a team of volunteer writers and bloggers to expand the diversity of our content.
People who engage with Folkmoot are interested in developing global relationships around arts and cultural exchange and are often cultural ambassadors for their countries.
Folkmoot has historically been a heritage dance organization and while we are interested in enhancing our content on dance, we are also interested in individual life stories of cultural exploration and awareness; perhaps relevant travel pieces (with helpful hints): perhaps, even, testimonials about how Folkmoot has affected your life. And, of course, we also want to promote the unique and compelling culture, heritage and natural beauty of our own Western North Carolina.
All one needs is imagination and writing skills and we can work together.
Folkmoot will publish submissions on our website and social media channels, crediting individual writers. Stories for publication need to be 300-500 words and include photographs without copyright restrictions. Each article should reflect the values of Folkmoot USA and support of our mission to build many cultures in one community while enhancing cultural understanding. Inclusion of your content is at the discretion of the Folkmoot executive director. Blog writing for Folkmoot is a volunteer position. Folkmoot bloggers will receive ticket benefits in exchange for writing services.
Interested writers should contact program staff member, Elizabeth Burson, 828-452-2997 ext. 207 to set up a conversation and arrange for the submission of writing samples. Or feel free to fill out this online form. Please use, “Call for Content,” in the subject line and use the “message” box to submit links to previously published work.
We are expanding to year-round programming in 2016 and looking forward to a spectacular summer festival in July. Come, contribute and join us for the ride!
