More about the artists...

Percussion Discussion Afrika
Percussion Discussion Afrika was founded in 1997, by Uganda’s legendary percussionist Herman Ssewanyana and quickly gained popularity in the county’s capital performing at high profile events and functions.  By 1999, Percussion Discussion Afrika was a house hold name in Kampala with a sound that hadn’t been heard before, attracting a diverse range of fans.  Their music is led by the melodic sound of traditional drums, accompanied by the Adungu, a Ugandan traditional harp from northern Uganda and a fusion with modern instruments.

Percussion Discussion Afrika’s debut album Omubala was number one on the internet charts in the US for close to a year and their second album Mulamu took Kampala by storm, taking them to the pinnacle and winning a Pan African Music award as the best folk pop group.  Their track Nakawunde is featured on the globally acclaimed film; The last king of Scotland by Forest Whitaker.

The group has toured extensively all over Africa, middle east and Europe, showcasing the diverse sounds of east Africa while advancing their hybrid new sound.  They continue to perform locally in Uganda and strive to reach new audiences worldwide.

Chinobay
Immerse yourself in the pure, unadulterated sounds of traditional African instruments that will transport you to distant lands.  This isn't just a concert; it's a learning experience where Chinobay shares insights into the rich history with stories woven into the music, offering you a chance to connect with the soul of Africa.

His original compositions breathe life into the diverse stories of humanity, showcasing Africa in its full spectrum of richness - transcending its portrayal merely as a backdrop for adversity.  Chinobay's music forms a rich tapestry of global cultures, interweaving diverse voices and experiences.  Through collaborations with musicians spanning the globe, Chinobay's work showcases the universal language of music, transcending borders and uniting humanity in a shared musical experience.

Zondo
Zondo is a Bassa-Kpelle man from Liberia, West Africa.  His creative philosophy is rooted in self-realization and collective healing through music.  Music can bring forth & pass on the best parts of ourselves - no matter the circumstances, no matter the struggles that beg of rhythm & melody.

Zondo’s music is based in the traditional rhythms of his ancestors, but fuses many cultures, styles and generes together due to his experience in this melting pot we call The United States!  The themes that pour through Zondo’s lyrical expression are at the foundation of the collective human experience - loss, grief, pain, love, connection, and unity.
